South Paraná Conference - The Women’s Ministries Department of this field has held special meetings on weekends. The project, “Literacy to Evangelize” not only taught 125 individuals to read and write in 2002, but has also brought many people to the feet of Jesus. A graduation ceremony for these classes was held at the “Wire Opera,” a privileged location for the society of Curitiba, with the presence of the worldwide WM leader Mrs. Ardis Stenbakken.

Through the Women’s Ministries method of literacy classes based on the Bible, the educators Nádia V. Geraldo and Joanita Damasceno voluntarily contributed so that this work was successful,” states Edit Fonseca, the WM leader in this territory.

Closing Statement
South American Division

Considering the emphasis on literacy in 2005, the South American Division is preparing a special literacy project with unified material for use in the entire South American Division territory. We are counting on the voluntary collaboration of teachers and educators who have contributed with their knowledge in the elaboration, training, and improvement of literacy teachers in a large number of our churches.

The material prepared is based on the Bible and in accordance with the mission of the Adventist Church, which is “preaching this gospel of the kingdom to the whole world.”
